Lory Toussaint
Island Vibes Magazine’s Que Linda for June is Lory Toussaint who resides in the Miami, FL area. This beautiful Haitian model has been living in the US for about 10 years and has two Brothers. Lory has also lived in Georgia (Atlanta area) where she attended High School. Her education plans include attending FIU (Florida International University) and studying Pre-Med to embark on her dreams of becoming a Pediatrician. Her career ambitions stem from her love for kids and working with them. When she is not modeling, she works in retail, but also enjoys shopping, going to the beach, and hanging out with friends. She says that she dislikes sitting at home so she is always out doing something. But when she is at home, she finds herself often cooking and taking care of her family, influenced by the traditional Haitian way of life. Outside of speaking English, she also speaks French and Creole fluently and often has to with her Grandma who only speaks in French and Creole. Lory also mentioned that she is taken away by how often people mistake her for being Mexican and not Haitian because of her lighter complexion. She says that many don’t realize that Haitians are made up of various complexions, and not all have the stereotypical darker skin. Lory’s favorite sport is basketball and says her favorite team is the Boston Celtics.
Lory has always had a passion for modeling. Her experience includes fashion shows, music videos, commercials, a calendar, and she has also appeared in the popular TV show of Burn Notice as an extra. Her most memorable modeling experience was her very first fashion show. She recalls being very nervous but excited at the same time. It was a fashion show which also involved Lady Gaga which was part of what made it so memorable. Even though she has been featured in music videos, she does not consider herself a video vixen by any means. And she says she is very selective of the type of videos she appears in.
Ten years from now, Lory sees herself in Medical School and still modeling on the side. She has aspirations to gain modeling assignments and projects in NY and hopes to do more fashion shows and print modeling in the future. Additionally, she has an interest to travel to and visit California, specifically the Los Angeles area.
